Description
For the 2013 Nutcracker, we made a brand new Grandfather clock prop. I still think it looks like Iron Man, though That was an afterthought: Was trying to match the rest of the scenery
Made of mostly 1/2" plywood, this bad boy is pretty light. Unfortunately, because of the crappy floor in the warehouse and stage, it leans forward a little But you can't tell, and it'll be fixed in a couple months.
Base paint is all spray paint. I know some hate spray paint, but I turn out some killer stuff with the stuff. The maroon & gold highlights, however, were standard paint. The gold was applied with a sponge brush and I was going for a hammered look, but not sure it worked. Plus, from 30 feet away, nobody will even notice. The white trim is actually supposed to be used for doors, but they look great. The White corner pieces are technically shelves
Painted on the loading dock of the Casa Del Prado Theatre in San Diego during December Nights. Fun fact for all you San Diegans: If it rains during the first weekend of December, it's because I'm trying to paint outside. No lie, and hasn't failed in the past 7 years
Comments welcome. Suggestions also welcome, but only from fellow props & theatre people.
