This was taken at a Firefighter Memorial in a park near Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs. There were 2 statues: One central to the memorial portraying a firefighter rescuing a child, and a second one sitting on some steps, overwhelmed by emotions and the weight of everything that an firefighter goes through. I wanted a shot that contained both figures, but with the softer angle more prominent.
After taking this and the few other shots that I took, I said "Thank You" before I let, mainly because I talk to inanimate objects, but part of me was thanking those who died in the line of duty, protecting those who need it.
The only critique that I have with this shot is the pole that is just behind the crying figure. I couldn't get away from it as it was a flagpole.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The 25 semi-finalists for our "Darksiders: Your Last Days" contest have been selected! The ultimate winners will be chosen by Joe Madureira, aka "Joe Mad" of Vigil Games. Check out the awesome semi-finalists to see who made the cut!
